The Demonstration Multipurpose School (D.M. School), the First CBSE affiliated school of the state, a premier educational institution of our state as well as of the Eastern Region of India, is an integral part of Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar. The Institute and its attached D.M. School were established at the capital city of Orissa in the year 1964 by the initiative and determined endeavours of the Chief Minister of Orissa, as outstanding leader and a committed politician, Sri Biju Patnaik. The school was set up as the laboratory unit of Regional Institute of Education under NCERT, a wing of HRD Ministry, Govt. of India, New Delhi, for identification, analysis and research in major problems in school education and for serving as a center for studies in curriculum development. There are only four such schools under NCERT located at Ajmer, Bhopal, Mysore and Bhubaneswar each attached to respective R.I.Es. This is an English Medium Senor Secondary School affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi conducts All India Secondary and Senior Secondary Examination at the end of Class-X & XII respectively. It is a co-educational school with classes from I to XII. Presently the school has 918 students on its roll out of which 535 are boys and 383 are girls. Among them 255 students belongs to SC and ST category.
